Building Project Update

Building for the Future

The St. Andrew's Activity Center Project is a large, modern multi-use facility under construction directly north of the sanctuary. If this project is new to you, please check out our displays in Crothers Hall or the website links, below, to learn more about the design.

Our Activity Center has progressed well and reached a series of important milestones. First, the basic roof structure was placed prior to heavy February rain, so weather has not significantly interrupted construction and we are still planning for May, 2010 completion. Exterior siding and interior drywall are impending as of this report.

Final costs for the project are being assessed. Charges from the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) and Pacific Gas and Electric service will be significant final components to our project cost. The project team will issue an update of our estimated total project cost as soon as these services are finalized.

As always, we urge all members and visitors to observe all fencing, barriers and warnings to avoid any hazards from construction, and especially be watchful over curious children.

Questions about the building project may be directed to Craig Mizutani, Building Project Team (silver_beagle@sbcglobal.net), Greg Gould, Project Manager (gould56@comcast.net), Ken Harold (kdharold@comcast.net), Sue Fitch (sue_fitch@yahoo.com), or Warren TenBrook, Communication Team Leader (warren@tenbrook.org).

Our Architect John Goldman, with careful consultation with St. Andrew's members, has prepared a vision that places our new Activity Center to balance our Sanctuary. You can view color elevation drawings by clicking on the links below:
