Who We Are...
Saint Andrew's Mission, Policies and Trust
"Ordinary people using their gifts for divine mission."
Quick Links
Through study and prayerful discernment, the Law, Prophets, Gospels and Epistles, with the Confessions of the Presbyterian Church, lead us in our Christian life. Guided by these witnesses, here are our priorities for moving forward together in order to strengthen Christ's Church and glorify God:
Mission Statement
We worship God as a loving, supportive community of Christian ministers. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we share the Good News, nurture faith, and develop spiritual gifts. We equip God’s people to serve Christ in their daily lives and prepare them to respond to human needs within the congregation, as well as in the local and global communities.
Vision Statement
We will be a welcoming, supportive Christian community, in which all are ministers who trust in our loving God to empower and lead us as we seek and respond to God’s will. We will share our faith in word and deed as we work to build God’s kingdom on Earth. We will nurture and encourage people of all ages toward spiritual growth and help all discover and develop their spiritual gifts for use in Christian service.
Our Future Objectives
Objective ONE: We seek to communicate effectively with each other in love by:
- Evaluating current communication devices
- Sending effective messages that command attention and communicate in creative ways
- Covenanting with one another to read the monthly Network, the weekly bulletin announcements each week and other written material received from St. Andrew's.
- Openly listening and learning to understand each others thoughts and needs in order to build good will and communication within the church family
Objective TWO: We must maintain a paid staff configuration which will ensure the ability to meet the following goals:
- Growing worship services
- Quality pastoral care
- Music programs for all ages
- Expanded Christian education programs
- Growing youth programs
- Administrative and janitorial support
- High quality, paid nursery and toddler care
Objective THREE: We will grow in our relationships with one another and our Lord and have a good balance of pastoral care and church programs through:
- Seeking to have many non-clergy leaders in charge of programs so that our pastors can be available to respond to care needs
- Evaluating church programs to determine if they are meeting the largest possible number of needs
- Seeking to strengthen our care ministry of Deacons
Objective FOUR: We seek to provide the best possible worship experience each week by proving two different styles of worship and two different times of worship. (Session may decide to combine the two services into one service during certain times of the year.)
Objective FIVE: In order to nurture faith and develop spiritual gifts we will provide the best Christian education programs through:
- Church school for both 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM
- Wednesday afternoon Kid's Kingdom program (grades 1-5)
- Middle School and Senior High Fellowship programs
- Adult education offerings throughout the year
- Small Covenant Bible Study Groups
- Special age specific programs
Objective SIX : We will continue to develop, support and participate in hands-on mission projects in our community and world through:
- One specific local project each year
- A specific non-local project within California (or beyond) each year each year
- A specific worldwide/third world mission project
Objective SEVEN: In order to meet our future building needs, Session will create a "Facilities Building Task Force" to consider building or remodeling plans to bring back to Session for approval.

The Saint Andrew's Trust Fund
The Saint Andrews Trust Fund is a perpetual fund whose purpose is to provide income to continue and extend the Church's work and ministry by receiving and administering gifts and bequests. The income is derived from the permanent funds held by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation. For 209 Years the Foundation has been serving the Church through management of such gifts. This provides low operating costs and diversification. Saint Andrew's portion is administered by the Trust Fund Committee and the income is used to support various projects and activities of St. Andrews that are not provided for in the regular operating budget.
How is the Mission of our Church enhanced by the funds?
You can designate your Trust Fund gift for any of the funds that have been previously approved by our Church. In this way you can support the mission of St. Andrew's for generations to come. In a sense you will be leaving a legacy to the church. A gift need not be large to be important!
How will these funds be used?
Your gift, designated and accepted by the Church, would be used only for the purpose that it was intended.
Benefits of Trust Fund Participation
You and Saint Andrews will both benefit from your gift to the Trust Fund. The possible benefits to you are:
Income Tax deductions and Estate Tax deductions.
The benefit to the Church is:
A source of income, in addition to the operating budget of the Church, that will continue in perpetuity.
Choosing Your Type of Gift
Your gift can take the form of:
- Cash, Real Estate, Stocks, Bonds or other investments.
- Also it can be a Life insurance policy naming St. Andrews as the beneficiary.
What are the Saint Andrews Trust Funds?
Saint Andrews has a variety of trust funds already established and the interest from them provides a steady stream of income to support the intended programs. These funds are:
- General
- Mission
- Youth
- Music
- Major Maintenance
All of the funds are restricted for special uses as indicated in their titles. The General fund provides the least restriction in its use. The Trust Fund Committee provides recommendations to the Session for the use of these funds, but the final determination is made by the Session.
Saint Andrews has been richly blessed by gifts to the Trust Fund from those who have come before us. The future is ours to Give!
Getting Started
A gift to the Saint Andrews Trust Fund as part of your Will or an estate planning program typically involves three steps.
1. Talk with loved ones.
This means involving those closest to you so that you can understand their needs and share with them your dreams and desires. Ultimately, however, this important decision is up to you.
2. Consult Advisors
We recommend that you discuss your plans with an estate planning professional, who can give you details of the many types of arrangements available, and of the tax issues to be considered. The PCUSA Foundation can provide legal and estate planning assistance to your attorney, confidentially, and free of charge.
3. Involve the Church
By involving the Church early in your decision making, you can assure that your gift reflects your intentions and interests and is used for the fulfillment of your personal mission to God. Discuss your wishes with the Pastoral staff, as they can help you understand the needs of the church.
All of us have some assets which have accumulated during our lifetime and whose disposition after we are gone we can predetermine through a financial plan or estate plan.
As we have cared about and contributed to the church while we are living, we have an opportunity to extend our devotion by giving beyond our own lifetime.
Whatever our means, this is an opportunity for us all; modest gifts can be joined together to make possible continued ministries.
Your faithfulness in giving may serve as an inspiration to others to become good stewards and your witness will extend the ministry and mission of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
